Right idea, but I don't think it speaks to the conferences so much as the programs. Ohio State and Boston College have gained more clout through the years than Arizona State and KU, so go figure, the Buckeyes and Eagles are far higher in the rankings. And look at South Florida with the eighth-toughest schedule in the country -- it fell more with a road loss at now Top-25 Rutgers than USC did with a home loss to Stanford.

Brand names make the difference.

The poll got linked to in the al.com SEC blog by Granpa Doug Segrest..

And as usual, the SEC fanboys have no sense of humor...

You see! This is why we need a playoff. Blow-hard experts with opinions (nothing new and won't go away regardless) spouting off about who does or does not deserve "respect". And while this person has no merit or validity and certainly no national acclaim he is indicative of all that is wrong with D1 football.

Was it humorous? Somewhat. But it shows a regional bias. I don't know wether he is in the NE, MW, or West but he obviously aint from the S.

If BC wins the ACC then they should represent it in a playoff. If LSU wins the SEC, they are in. USC, OSU, etc. etc. If you don't want to win a NC (Notre Dame) then don't join a conference. Simple, right? There will still be horn tooting but it will be striclty for the fun of it because, as it shouldn't, it will not matter.

After watching Rutgers get treated like a high school team at Rentschler Field in Hartford, UConn is getting a Top 25 vote from yours truly; RU drops out and I have to find a spot for UGA.

Kansas is for real. They're doing all the things people said they couldn't do, including winning out of state. Of course, tonight's foe was, A&M. But they won at Coloradee, too.
