Dumb answer time: No one in the top 10 is really better than the next. It's not so much I think Hawaii is better than the 9 in front. I just want to see an undefeated upstart like Hawaii given the chance, once.

Except Hawaii was so untested this year and was so underwhelming at times that they're not really the best test-case.

But it could be worse. I remember Fresno State teams in the 1980's that went undefeated, won the Raisin Bowl against some can of corn and then and ONLY then did they get ranked.

Our most recent test case was Boise State last year: Beat Oklahoma.

The WAC can compete. All I'm saying. Hell, Utah State covered against USC in the opener; covered with 24 points to spare.

I mean test case for a title game. Nobody (or a scant few people) would argue Hawaii shouldn't be in a BCS game. But the championship game? Sorry, but nothing Hawaii has done makes me think they're one of the top two teams in the country, and when you're creating a national title game, that's what should count the most.

Two best. Who are the two best really? Especially this year.

I hear what you're saying. But some years say to hell with "the system" and just have a little fun. The Islanders against the Lower 48.

Imagine the build-up for that. Be a helluva audience watching.

So Meat - just asking here - if Hawaii beats Georgia ... does that sway your mind at all?

    West Virginia No. 7? Ugh.

I had them at No. 1 before, and dropped them 11 spots. Lose to Pitt, expect it.

BTW, USC played Idaho in the opener, not Utah State. Same thing. So is the point.

Oh(io) Shit! I did. The coffee hadn't taken yet.

Slappy, please insert Ohio State No. 2 and push out Webby U.

    Thanks (and thanks, old man).

Edit: It's on my notebook paper. Just overlooked it in my haste to get it in on time.
