The entire cycling industry was an apologist for Armstrong during his prime years. The fact he is still a pariah - while other dopers are beloved - shows the power of being a nice guy to your co-workers and competitors, which Armstrong certainly wasn't.

Anyway, I'll miss Liggett's voice (and 50-plus years of institutional knowledge) when he's done.

As will I. He wasn't great at this year's TDF, struggling with names more than he used to, but he was still better than most. And at least when he's talking, Bob Roll isn't.

US women look outta sorts in this second half. Germany looks to be wearing the Americans down.

US women are now 2 for 2 getting into the finals in wrestling. Amit Elor gets her chance at gold in about an hour and should be the favorite. Sarah Hildebrandt (2020 bronze medalist) just made the final at 50 kg and will face Vinesh Phogat of India, who did Hildebrandt a huge favor by upsetting Yui Susaki (2020 gold medalist) in the opening round. It was Susaki's first senior-level loss.

Germany couldn’t figure out how to finish and the Americans just kept jabbing and finally bloodied the German nose

Foot of God gets US to the gold medal match. I thought Germany had scored. Helluva finish.
