I believe it was based on points earned in tournaments leading in the years prior, which is kinda dumb. As long as the country qualifies you should be able to pick whichever players you want.

Why the F does our men's 3x3 team consist of plumbers and engineers?

Zero fucks given from the people who put this USA 3x3 team together.

Why didn't they just go to the Ruckers last summer and take the three best street players. They'd win hands-down.

 

You'd think the US 3x3 teams would be made out of the last dozen or so alternates from the 5x5 trials.

One really weird thing I noticed in the US game: the U.S. took noticeably fewer shots beyond the arc (by percentage) than were taken in the 5x5 game. Ditto for Poland.

In the 3x3 game, the long shots are worth double the shorter ones -- 2 pts vs 1, while in full court basketball it's 1.5 (3 vs 2). I would think in 3x3 you'd hardly ever take a short shot.

 

Seriously, this lineup is shit.

How can someone not be fired for creating this team? I don't blame the plumbers and engineers.

This is a major fuck up.
