Where the hell do you work?

What is her talent? Even if that story hadn't been plagiarized, she was writing the same feature as her competition had the day before. That's terrible beat reporting in this era. And the writing wasn't good.

Even a 13-year old young lady knows what plagiarism is.
If she resigned and said I take responsibility and ended it at that, I think some of us would be fine with. But then to say this shows that she didn't take full responsibility -- "My decision to resign from the Democrat came in part because of the current climate of the newsroom. The majority of my former co-workers were all required to re-apply for their positions on Monday and Tuesday, while I was exempt from the process that will result in a number of great journalists being laid off."
To spin resigning due to plagiarism into the current climate at Gannett is bullshit.

    Young lady? OK, Dad.

Also, how can you say you're fuzzy on the facts but in the same sentence say there's more to the story? What.

It means Bobby Bowden, as well as Roy S. Johnson, will hire plagiarists. :D

  6. lame joke, I understand the frustration about the hire. But the "house maid" comment is out of line and boorish. You can question the hire without being a jerk about it.

It's nice that her Facebook profile lists "Journalist" and the background photo is of Bryant-Denny Stadium.

Naa, no bias or homerism. Probably just the first of many photos of SEC stadiums, like a weekly carousel. Then, mascots, followed by helmets, jerseys ...

Andrew Gribble, one of their Alabama beat writers, is leaving. Might that be her next job?

I've read the "young lady's" raw copy, and she is nothing special. And as has been noted repeatedly, there are far too many qualified candidates for what seems like a pretty good gig to hire her. She definitely deserves a second chance, but as has also been noted, she should have to prove herself in a lesser role to get that chance.

  12. Oh please, that's a stretch.

There are a million writers who have a stadium backdrop on their social media profiles. It's where they work and where the team they cover plays.

We've reached the point of piling on a bit here.
