There are agricultural checkpoints coming into California. All they ask is if you have any fruits or vegetables. Last dozen or so times I've been waved through before I even got the window down.
Californians don't like bugs being brought in, just like Oregonians don't like Californians being brought in.

I'm enjoying following this random thread. Keep the pictures coming. I've never been on a road trip to the west.

Arrived about 90 minutes ago in Anaheim Hills. My sister's house. As shocking as this probably sounds, it beats the hotel in Needles.

No new pictures, but this photo I found while doing a search for Spike, Snoopy's brother, will give you a good idea about Needles and its vibe. There's this, a few gas stations, a few hotels, a Taco Bell, a UHaul place, some heavy machinery businesses and not much more to suggest anything more idyllic than a tumbleweed junction.

Will drive up the coast (the 101 and the 1, SoCal Dude) on Saturday to visit an uncle in San Francisco, then continue on to Oregon after that.

This pic does not look that much unlike west Texas. Looks green enough actually.

Now it looks desert-y in the far background, but I've discovered in SoCal you can throw a rock and hit a differing biosphere.

Such a great trip. I've never done one westward. Only eastward. This makes me want to go west.
