Amigo, you'd be begging for some Journey if I posted some of the other songs from that 1973 "America's Top 40."

"American Top 40," to be more accurate. What I heard:

    28. Three Dog Night "Shambala"
    27. Isley Brothers "That Lady (Part 1)"
    26. Carpenters "Yesterday Once More"
    25. Donnie Osmond "Young Love"
    24. Seals & Crofts "Diamond Girl"
    23. Deep Purple "Smoke on the Water"
    22. Lobo: "How Can I Tell Her"
    21. Aretha Franklin "Angel"
    20. Elton John "Saturday Night's Alright for Fighting"
    19. Grand Funk Railroad "We're An American Band"

Found a link for one of the stations that played it yesterday:

That's some painful stuff, but I like "Saturday Night's All Right For Fighting," even if I'm kinda lukewarm on Elton.

And "Smoke on the Water" is fine by me, on account of the fact that it's on the same album as Deep Purple's "Space Truckin'."

The Purple kicked some ass back in the day.

Be careful around Mt. Shasta. It is actually hollow and inhabited by a magical race of little people.

But didn't you want JD to be welcomed to his place with Open Arms. Or that where he was and where he is are Worlds Apart? At least his Wheels weren't anywhere near the Sky.

Depends. Don McLean or Madonna version?

Knowing HC, it's gotta be McLean. He actually sang.

    Best karaoke-in-crowded-bar song ever, btw.
