Fox Sports does one a week, as does ESPNU. Southlake Carroll, the No. 1 ranked team in Texas, is playing on ESPNU vs. Miami Northwestern at 6 p.m. CDT on Saturday.
It is a big day for Texas high school football.

Message on my voice mail this week:

"You never put defensive stats in your junior varsity stories. Some people would like to know who is making the tackles."

    Who?

You were there. You know who made the tackles.

And we don't write JV stories.

I don't know how many Odessa Permian draws anymore, but in their heyday in the late 80s and early 90s they regularly drew 20k or more to home games.
Last year in the Class 5A playoffs a Southlake Carroll game drew more than 40k to a game.

I saw that three different WPIAL (western Pennsylvania) games were on at one time or another yesterday.

We will have two local games televised this weekend, and two other games of statewide interest will be on the Pennsylvania Cable Network.

    Friday Night Lights?
The book is very good, the movie is OK though there are lots of changes, and the TV show has nothing to do with any of it.

Doesn't Hoover High draw tons of fans as well?

One of the things I miss about living in that state is PCN. Always good for a mid-afternoon Erie McDowell vs. State High game to entertain ya.
