Having had a bit more time to think about this, I think the right outcome has been reached.

Had the committee done a decent job of investigating the incident during the round yesterday, then Tiger would have been penalized 2 shots before he signed his score card.

Tiger should not be penalized for the failings of the committee, so a two shot penalty but no DQ is correct given the circumstances. There is leeway under rule 33, in the general exception.

A botched job all round, but the right and fair result in the end. The fact that nothing was released to the public regarding the committee's initial review of the drop is a bit of an indictment of the way things are run, a completely lack of transparency that in many ways fed the resulting twitter/media storm.

How many believe ALL golfers get this same treatment?

  4. When Tiger took the drop, Feherty talked about it, noting he could drop the ball farther back. He raised no issues at all. Neither did any one else on the broadcast.

  5. As if Tiger needed another reason to not talk to the media. ;)

What's funny is how many jump on the karma ship, as if this has anything to do with his philandering or lifestyle.

Yeah, no shit. I've never heard his integrity on the course questioned.

(Jack Nicholson voice on the witness stand) "We WANT him on that course, we NEED him on that course. ... Did I order a perfect drop ... YOU'RE DAMNED RIGHT I DID."

Never? You haven't been paying attention.

    1. 2,000 pound loose impediment in Phoenix.

    2. Stevie Williams steps on his ball at the PGA, claims it was a fan, TW gets a drop from an embedded lie and makes the cut on the number.

    3. Hits a ball into the crowd and high grass in Charlotte that no one can find, claims a fan picked it up (which NO ONE saw) gets a free drop and avoids penalty.

I don't give a shit who he bangs.

You can say all those situations were correct, i guess. But they were certainly in question. I absolutely believe Stevie lied about the ball stepping thing. To say no one has ever questioned his on course ethics is false.

    Imagine that in football.

Seriously, though, isn't there a point of no return in golf where the scores can't be changed?

1 - well within the rules. Actually pretty smart to think about trying it.
2 - conspiracy theory based on your biased opinion and no facts
