Chad was done from the very beginning. Even before he wrecked his shoulder, his arm didn't scare anyone. Yeah, he had a good first season after becoming the starter (2002, I believe). But once opposing defenses realized that all Chad could do was dink-and-dunk, he was toast.

Winning 9-11 regular season games and one playoff game was as far as the Jets were going to go with Pennington even if he hadn't gotten hurt. They need someone with a better arm to get them over the top.

 

Or the Bears, where even if he has to throw with his left arm he's still a massive upgrade over the double play of suck.

I still say the Chiefs are a legit landing spot, since Herm loves Chad. Also, since Brodie Croyle sucks.

Excellen decision? Yeah...whenever its 3rd and 10, Chad was always there to throw the ball for a "safe" 5 yards. His QB rating on the increase while the Jets offense driving downfield for a TD decreases.

Prediction (based on nothing): Chris Simms gets traded to Bears. Simms has a better year than Favre and Garcia.

I could see that...particularly the better-than-Garcia part.

I still say the Bucs will trade Simms to the cowboys or some team where he's got no shot, short of injury, to start. Gruden and Simms hate each other and the last thing Gruden needs during a 4-12 season is to see Simms making the Pro Bowl.
