    I'm almost sure he doesn't.

He is best friends with team President Matt Silverman since childhood. He Sternberg, and Silverman came in together. (Silverman & Friedman actually started with the team in lesser roles before Sternberg took over control.)

The thought is that because the three are close and have come this far, he wouldn't leave. Sternberg has also given Silverman & Friedman nearly complete autonomy. He obviously sets a budget, but he doesn't get involved in the day-to-day.

Not sure if it has been mentioned on this thread, but Perrotto sheds a little light on the Boston situation.

Mind you, this writer, for whatever reason does not have a full time gig. That just amazes me.

As a Cubs fan I'll add that the only managerial move they can make is the one the new high dollar GM wants to make.

You don't lay out the kind of coin Ricketts is apparently prepared to spend for a brand-name GM then tell the guy who is manager is going to be.

Sandberg is an overmanaging blowhard who has 'paid his dues' no more than dozens of other minor league guys but threw a hissy fit when his name didn't get him the job over Quade.

If the Cubs are foolish enough to hire him as manager, look forward to lots of bunting with the No. 3 hitter and random feuds with talented players.

    That sounds awesome.

It was a poor decision for Quade to be retained.

Sounds like the Red Sox are going outside for a manager, which really sucks for DeMarlo Hale. He's been bandied around long enough that, unfortunately, teams are probably looking for reasons why he hasn't been hired before (bad interviews, ego, etc.), whether legit or not.

He's a regular writer over at Baseball Prospectus - he does an "On The Beat" column for them, which is mostly interviews with managers and whisperings from scouts. Always a pretty entertaining read.

Tito will be calling Games 1 and 2 of the ALCS for Fox while McCarver recovers from a minor heart procedure this week. Therefore, if the Yankees are in, there will only be one voice fellating Jeter.

    Has he done TV before?

Maybe he'll be good, but that sounds like a recipe for disaster.

He may not be polished but he'll sure as shit be more interesting than McCarver. He'll almost make up for the fact we have to listen to Joe Fucking Buck.
