That was a damn fine episode... I have, and perhaps we all have, seen fathers who cross the line in how they treat their sports playing child. Not the physical abuse. But I sure have seen verbal abuse. It will be interesting how this arc plays out.

Another beauty tonight. Anybody tear up on that final scene with Riggins?

My only complaint....I wish Saracen had been out there with Riggins too. Riggins has more (college) games in his future. Saracen walked away for good.

Neat to see those two bonding over a little Frisbee. And then the throwback pass to the QB for 6.

    Some fun stuff tonight.

I liked that Coach still calls Landry Lance. They had to lose, had to. And that was a nice bit with Riggins. The look on his face in the locker room was serene, it was like he stripped away all the bad boy and he looked like a little kid who enjoyed a game of football. Saracen has always been about more than football, I think Riggins realizes he might have peaked.

Couldn't help but read ahead to find out what happens in next week's finale. Curious to see it for myself.

I'm surprised how excited I am to watch this show every week. To bad we can't convince a few million more to do the same.

Despite not mentioning it in this episode for obvious reasons of focusing on other things, I'm interested to see what they do next week to resolve splitting the HS up. This whole McKoy plotline has it written all over that JD is going to be a central character for the next couple seasons. I've never had interactions or knowledge of folks who deal with some form of child abuse, but the McKoys certainly come off as huge assholes after putting all the blame on the Taylors.

More likely Principal Taylor goes to the new school.

Is Julie a junior, so she'll be back next year?

I think coach gets fired and then gets a job as a manager at the Applebee's in town. . . that way they can get a few more sponsorship mentions in.

If Tyra actually worked at Applebee's, I'd move to Dillon, Texas

I don't think Tim ever plays in college, and I think he knows it. That's why he put his cleats in the end zone, like a wrestler after his last match. Really nice moment, except you know Timmy is going to end up fixing cars with his idiot brother next year, especially when he realizes he'd be holding Lyla back from going to Vandy if he dragged her to San Antonio State.

I think Tyra reading her essay over the montage of Austin, the Taylors, the frisbee playing on the statehouse lawn, and everything else, was one of my favorite scenes in the series. I even got a little choked up when it was over. Good stuff.
