That is some great stuff. Thanks for the insight, guys. Hard to believe it's that big of a deal, but I never doubted it. Living in SEC country, I know that people can take their football pretty damn seriously. And I don't doubt for a second that there are hundreds or thousands of Buddy Garritys out there, especially in that neck of the woods.

I just bought FNL's Season One. Just wanted to see it from the beginning again. My how Slash has matured over three years. Also what ever happened to the bitchy mayor, who thought she knew more about football than anyone else?

  4. She was in a number of episodes this year opposite Principal Taylor ... about the scoreboard and, of course, East Dillon. Unless that was someone different.

I thought so too, CU. Unless there's another mayor I'm not remembering.

I am really, really interested to see what happens with Buddy. Does he stick with Dillon, even though Joe is clearly now booster No. 1 and Buddy's buddy (sorry, please pardon the pun) Eric is over on the east side of town? It is his school, after all, and it was Buddy who lit into Eric earlier this season about Dillon being bigger than Eric or anyone else.

I can't see Buddy jumping ship. I could see a scenario where he and Taylor start feuding, and maybe Taylor turns him in for questionable recruiting tactics or something. No matter what happens, it should be interesting. Taylor's been there for Buddy a few times, so it should be a good story line when they're on different sides.

I met Landry's dad on yesterday, Glenn Morshower. He also plays Aaron Pierce on 24.

This is my favorite actor on my two favorite shows, and I was trembling when I approached him, and this is from a guy who does not get starstruck.

He was absolutely the nicest guy I've ever met, asked ME if he could pose for a picture, talked for 20 minutes and shared a couple remarkable stories with me. One of the best experiences of my life.

Highlight: Me describing my favorite scene in FNL ever, when Landry makes his first big play and his dad says, "That's my boy," and the look on his face when I described it.

    Wow.

That's a cool story. One of my favorite characters in both shows too. I loved when he was helping Landry take care of things after he killed the guy for attacking Tyra. Just seems like a good dude. I'm glad that's the case. How did this meeting come about?

Extreeeeeeeeemely random. Met him in Vegas while I was writing a column; just so happens he's very close friends with Lou Diamond Phillips, whose suite I was in. Pretty weird.

Landry's dad, Lou Diamond Phillips and a column. Sounds like a good day for GBNF.
