I'm just enjoying it while I can. Maybe I'm being negative, but I'm expecting it to be done after this season. I hope that's not the case, but I'd rather be surprised later that it's back than crushed because it's gone.

I pretty much gave up hope when Bill Simmons wrote about how great it is. If that wasn't a sign of doom, I'm not sure what would be.

So I thought tonight's episode redeemed a lot of things - trashing the stupid nurse/saracen romance was fantastic. That story line had to go. It was destroying his character. Everything else felt at least somewhat realistic in a television way.

I was not happy about that. At all.

Not the best episode, but it was necessary to re-establish contact with some of the other characters. I liked getting to know Santiago a little more and that they didn't have him fall for that line about Buddy only being interested in him because of football. While that may have been true at the beginning, I think with Buddy's marriage and family life falling apart, he sees himself as Santiago's surrogate father.

I've never watched this show (really), is it worth watching? Basically I just got a DVR and that's how I'm gonna watch now.

One of the most well-acted shows on network television. The first season was outstanding. This season has been a bit more "soap opera-y" but still more entertaining that about 80 percent of the other shows on TV.
I'll say this. I don't think there's anyone out there who started watching the show that says "Man, what a waste of an hour."
Definitely buy or rent Season 1 on DVD, though. Then you can catch up on Season 2 on NBC.com

One of the things I appreciate the most about this show is how carefully crafted the episodes are. Tonight's focus on separation and cultural divides (Mom and Gracie, Saracen and the health aide, Smash and his chick, Riggins and Lyla and Santiago and his past) was very strong.
Buddy having second thoughts about taking stuff out of his place and Smash's mom agreeing with the white folks that maybe a mixed race relationship wasn't the best thing was stuff you don't see on TV period. This show has won a Peabody already right?

my wife and i loved last night's episode. and it's no coincidence that we have a seven week old baby who my wife is staying home with for six months and the wife is going a little stir crazy.

If you get the UniversalHD channel you can also catch up by watching season one on that channel. The are on the third episode of season 1 now. They premier on Fridays at 7 and then rerun constantly throughout the week.

I thought the Buddy/Santiago scenes were some of the best of the season, especially when Santiago walked in with the bloody face and the watch.

The dinner scene was damn funny with some wonderful dialogue, particularly when Buddy was rambling on.

  11. I also enjoyed the episode and I also like the Buddy/Santiago storyline. I don't think that angle is too hard to believe. The kid that plays Santiago is pretty good and he always has that look of angst that makes him look like he's in such pain about his life all the time.

But, one thing that has frustrated me to no end is the lack of at least a checkup on Landry and Tyra. They have that situation just lingering and nary a mention the past two weeks. Are we to believe that Landry telling Tyra that he's sick of waiting around for her is the end of their dalliance?

Nah .. I think it's that there's too many characters to keep up with on a weekly basis.

I'm with the group that says this show was kinda slow, but it was needed to reconnect most of the story lines.
