Definately not as strong as the first season, but also definately better than than what that season opener showed you. The season got stronger and progressed away from the early over the top storylines. It's not season 1 quality, but still a lot better than most TV and still worth your time.

  3. Not a great episode, especially following one that was one of the best ever. That can't be the last one, even for the season. There's way too much that still needs to be covered. I did enjoy watching Landry get in the end zone.

Also, is it just me or is Lyla absolutely craving sex? She seemed so disappointed when Christian soldier wouldn't do it. I have to think she goes crawling into Rig's bed at some point just to fill her needs.

If/When the show comes back, it's a done deal. I love how Riggins said he's sticking at the church for "as long as it takes" and seems to be really trying (whether it's honest or not) to get Lyla.

Either way, the Lyla-Riggins ship has not sailed.

On a side note, where the hell did that baby storyline come from? How do they not mention that girl for three weeks and just throw in a throwaway line from Street about how he's called her so many times. That's a little weak. Even still, I can't argue with Peter Berg being an over-the-top prick. That was fun.

  5. It's not supposed to be the last of the season, can't blame that on the show runners though, a little thing called the strike has gotten in the way. It does appear to be the season finale though, since the season 2 set of discs is supposed to be out in April with all 15 episodes.

She does seem like she really wanted it. That relationship will not end well.

Lyla has never looked hotter than she did in the episode. Enjoyed it - glad to see Smash find a home and a new father figure. Didn't know Tammy grew up in Dillon. Enjoyed the Riggins talk show and yeah, the Street's a daddy twist was interesting. The Pete Berg plot line did seem a little gratuitous, but hell he's earned it. Also enjoyed Saracen not completely over his asshole faze with his remarks to Landry about Tyra.

Yes, Landry's response: "Well, who'd have guessed a mexican nanny would be your type ..." had me rolling with laughter.

Landry is really fucking funny sometimes.

Smash's girl: "Afterwards you're going to get laid."
    Smash: "For real?"
    Smash's girl: "No, I'm pms-ing."

Might have been nice had someone mentioned to Smash how the NFL will find talent where ever it is, be it big school, small school, or whatever, and give some examples. Not a bad episode, but not the best we've seen. I'm not disappointed though because I was still entertained, and I doubt anyone really intended for the season to end the way it did. And heck, now they get a third TV season out of some of the seniors since they've got all those unresolved story lines.

I just hope this wasn't the last episode ever. That would suck.

I've heard that if it gets to the point where NBC has no interest in bringing it back, ESPN would take it up. They could also do something with USA like what they do with Law and Order right now. Either way, it seems hard to believe that the show is gone for good.

  11. If you click the TV Guide / Ausiello link I provided above, you will see it has been updated. Apparently the show only pulled a 1.7 demo, lower than normal, so folks are starting to campaign to keep the show. If you want in:

Save FNL campaigns are already in full swing. The folks over at Best Week Ever are urging viewers to send NBC light bulbs as a message to "Keep the Lights On," while a group of dedicated fans over at MySpace are putting together a similar campaign using mini footballs.

First off, Street's girlfriend looks like she's in her early 30s. At least most of the older cast are able to pull of the high school look. But there's no way she passes for 19.

Next up, I could almost swear coach's wife said something about going to "Rankin." Yet they say she's from Dillon. I never got that out of the show. For one, there's never been any mention of her parents that I recall. I'd have to go back and watch the first few episodes, but I recall their move to Dillon being all about a new and unfamiliar place.

I have a feeling the writers left in the middle of the writing process and the producers decided to write the rest themselves. They messed up in a few other spots, too.
