i'd like to see smash go on and be the big stud at tmu or tu or a&m or whatever. think that would be good, and then you could have everyone following him in season 3 and beyond, coming back and being the biggest man in the town as the success. we've seen the failures -- street and the returning legend who begged for a job -- it's time to see a success

  2. I'd like to see them do something with Smash and the rigors of recruiting with Taylor trying to get him and then other schools throwing money at him, etc. That could be an interesting storyline for him.

Also, was anyone surprised they didn't have Mac become the head coach to replace Taylor? They made it sound like he was supposed to be the heir apparent before Taylor got the job and he still can't get the job. I know he had the issue last year, but it could have made for some interesting storylines with him as the head coach.

The new coach is no spring chicken, but isn't Mac too old to be coach?

I liked the scenes between Taylor and his daughter in the first ep. And it's obvious his wife is going to have some serious postpartum depression issues. That will bring Taylor back to town ... not taking back his old job.

    The Dillon Herald headline

    Panthers miss playoffs

The Dillon Panthers who won state last year did not even make it into the playoffs this year under the new head coach.

Eric Taylor the old head coach who took a job with TMU gets rehired to rebuild the team back to its glory days.

But back to the show...We never really see any of the kids in school doing high school work etc...
But I am excited about this season and do believe the above fake Dillon Herland headline will happen this season.

Landry reminds me of Kramer in the early years of Seinfeld. He was great in small doses and a great secondary character. If they flesh him out more, it takes away from the rest of the show.

Anyone else creeped out by that fill-in counselor?

Anyone who doesn't think FNL's quality is in decline, go back and watch the pilot and first 4 or 5 episodes. I've just done so the last couple days and it is a marked difference from this season. Those first episodes were some of the best network TV I've ever seen.

The gravitation toward more sensationalistic storylines like the murder/body-hiding angle are going to kill this show's credibility. I'm afraid it might be headed toward the world of typical cheesy over-the-top network dramas not far removed from 90210, Melrose, OC, etc. Which will be a shame because the 1st half of its first season was something special.

Completely agree. I know it's only been a couple episodes, but it feels weird that the only football footage has been a combined couple minutes of practice.

Actually, I thought that second episode bounced back.

    Some fantastic acting in there.

    I'm with you on that.

How old is the Swede supposed to be? Isn't Julie like 15 or 16? And isn't he supposed to some older guy? That whole storyline is odd, potentially illegal.

  12. I'm with you ... I thought it was a very good episode and some of the acting was great (really liked Landry's dialogue right after Tyra told him to start acting like a man).
I think some people are so paranoid that this show is falling off that they're overthinking things instead of just enjoying a great show.
