Friday Night Lights, Season 2

Discussion in 'Anything goes' started by Cosmo, Oct 1, 2007.

  1. By the way, there was a couple of scenes where Connie Britton was either sweaty (in the counselor's office) or showing off major cleavage (when the baby had a fever) that I was just wishin she was my lonely next door neighbor in dire need of a man. Good God, Britton's hot!

I want more Landry and less Sarasin's grandmother. I don't think the show's in decline. I've been more pleased by these first two episodes than by the first few of Heroes this year.

I thought it was suggested he was college age and if I remember, Julie was either a freshman or sophomore last year. I'm surprised this issue hasn't been brought up. Perhaps more important, has anyone actually said his real name?

Honestly, I don't like the direction the season is going.

I think I'll feel differently when football starts. Right now, the Landry and Lila (Lyla?) story lines are just plain stupid. I wanted to see Landry with Tyra, but not because of a murder (self defense, whatever).

Me, too. Between Connie Britton and Jesse Plemons (Landry), it doesn't get any better. I can see Plemons having a movie career. Kid's got some chops.

I thought I read somewhere that Saracin's granny ends up in a nursing home. Either that or he starts hooking up with the home health aide.
I dug the second episode and glad the took a week off on the stalker murder storyline.
Top three scenes for me were Tammy telling the fill-in counselor he needs to connect with the kids and then clearly doesn't connect with Julie; Coach Taylor telling the board how he'd get the stud TMU player buttoned down if they allowed him back on the team; Landry's dad telling him how proud he was of Landry even as Landry kept getting his ass handed to him in practice. But weren't practices closed? Anyone know what the ratings are for FNL in flyover country?

I can definitely see the health aide hookup happening. That is definitely a possibility with the storylines so far this season.

I didn't think about the closed practice thing, especially considering that was a big deal in the first practice scene of the first episode. Solid continuity.

i'm guessing even the new coach allows parents of the players to watch as long as they keep their mouths shut. he closed practices to creepy, interfering, adult fanboys.

and maybe even he doesn't have the stones to oust a cop. isn't landry's father a cop of some sort?

I noticed the lack of continuity with the closed practice thing, though shockey could be right with the cop factor.

If the health aide thing develops I think I might check out on this show. That'd be ridiculous.

why would that be so ridiculous?

I'm enjoying year two, although slightly less than year one.

The character I think has the potential to emerge as a star is Buddy G. What a hoot. He's a tremendous caricature of everything Texas/high school football/bad father.

I'm also beyond amazed that the teens on the show are not completely mortified by their hapless parents (Lyla/Buddy, Julie/preggie mom in pool has her water break).

As the parent of a couple of teens, I know they get embarrassed when either of their parents even look at them in public. To think Lyla wouldn't have been mortified when Buddy pulled the psycho/drunk routine at the team party or that Julie wouldn't have banished her mother to parent hell for the swimming pool incident is beyond belief.

According to NBC comments we will have a lot more of Sarasin's grandmother in this season and yes there is supposed to something happening with Sarasin and this aid but according to released statements its not sexual between the two.

Landry's dad is a cop in Tyler and one I don't get how this new guy is a Swede he looks nothing like someone from Sweden but what do I know. Julie has already kissed the Swede and no we don't know his real name yet. But I think something will happen between Julie and Swede now that she is no longer with Sarasin.

Landry and Tyra has kind of hooked up but I think at the moment its more of a I feel like shit and can't wait for Mr. Right so I am going after Mr. Right Now. They will go to hell by episode 7.

Now that we know Landry's dad is a cop I know that he will discover the body and the watch and do what he can to stop anything from happening to Landry because he is a Panther and the town does not want the bad press to stop the championship team from going to state twice.

Also coach Taylor works at Texas Methodist University home of the Bobcats....The real University is Texas State University in San Marco's Texas home of the Bobcats.

FNL uses the same school colors and mascot as TSU.....
