You've been fighting the fight around here long enough to know our opinions have calcified. Nobody is changing anyone's mind. So don't get all weepy if someone calls Romney the horse's ass he has amply shown himself to be, and appeal for respect, when the sitting president has gotten none of that.

It may take a couple more days to fully know, but it seems like the only ones who were wowed by Romney's performance were Republicans and the press. A CBS News poll didn't seem particularly impressed.

And, was no one disappointed in the President's performance as well?

Didn't say that. Again, I'm not sure it matters. At least, it doesn't appear to yet.

I missed the first 20 or pages of this thread. Has there been any discussion of Obama telling defense contractors to violate the WARN Act and not issue required-by-law 60-day layoff notices before the election?

Awful nice of him to offer to provide taxpayer money to these companies to pay any legal costs that arise from the lawsuits that are sure to result from this craven attempt to protect his re-election bid.

Yes, that has been shown to be bullshit twice on here already, with some fear-mongering from Lockheed CEO mixed in. It's in the running for The Lie That Won't Die, although "Obama is cutting $716B from Medicare" still has a comfortable lead.

Look it up. All your questions have been answered. I think Bob Cook took it on.

I am sure we will be going over it in another five pages again, but it gets no truer as time passes.

Republican presidential challenger Mitt Romney gained ground on Democratic President Barack Obama after a strong performance in their first debate heading into the November 6 election, according to a Reuters/Ipsos poll taken after their prime-time face-off.

Romney is now viewed positively by 51 percent of voters, the first time he has enjoyed a net positive in the U.S. presidential race, the poll found. Obama's favorability rating remained unchanged at 56 percent, according to the poll.

Romney moved ahead of the president on several core issues after Wednesday's debate, which was widely seen as a victory for the Republican candidate.

Voters now see Romney as a better bet to boost the economy, spur job creation and manage the budget deficit, the poll found. He narrowed Obama's advantage on taxes, the Social Security retirement program and the Medicare health insurance program for the elderly and disabled.

Romney's strong performance could make the race more competitive, Ipsos pollster Cliff Young said.

"If he has more debates like this, is able to push through his message and target undecideds, we might see movement in voting intention

Awful nice of you and Team Mitt to be desperately cheerleading for several hundred Americans to lose their jobs so you can get rid of the M.N., but it's the same shit we've seen for four years now.

Since you boys think it is so important for the nation, maybe Mitt (who enjoys being able to fire people) can deliver the pink slips himself.
