Not being snarky here, but I have a hard time getting bent out of shape about the fact that: 1) in the U.S. the preferred suicide method among the under-50 crowd tends toward firearms; when 2) the suicide rate among the under-50 crowd in the U.S. isn't all that (relatively) high.

So much concern for gay rights. You'd think some conservatives would be overjoyed.

    Overjoyed by what?

The guy sounds like an idiot. Who vetted him?

It's not as high because people die other ways so...efficiently.

Come on. I don't doubt that the pool of potential suicides is diminished by other premature deaths, but these are measured in age-adjusted deaths per 100,000 (the U.S. rate is 10 per, btw), so at most we'd be talking about a fraction of a fraction of a fraction. There's no way that the U.S. suicide rate is materially lower than Japan's (around 20 per) or Finland's (around 18 per) simply because more people have died in other ways.

This reverse therapy that gays find so repugnant, what business is it of theirs that he has this? Is it not the choice of the individual, if he or she so desires, to seek this? Why would "they" be so afraid and so agitated by this that they would try to deny others the chance to try it? Yeah, liberty is only a selective notion in that part of the liberal lollipop world. Always has been, always will be.

I'd just as soon the Messiah put his hand on the latest memo of Dailykos.

    Ted Haggard agrees/disagrees.

That is irrelevant to my point....the gay political arm's pissy fit over reverse therapy.

Great. I appreciate candor from a guy who said he had a "massage that went awry."

How would you feel if gays started grabbing Christians off the street to start "deprogramming" them?

  12. Re: THE 2012 POLITICS THREAD

Gay brainwashing is a common screed among reactionary social conservatives
