You do realize that a majority of the taxpayer cost is for security, which is needed for an event with anywheres from hundreds of thousands to a couple of million people attending, and that the parties are from private funds, right?

Of course, if Obama had one little small ceremony, the righties would be screaming that he was disrespecting the office of the presidency by having a more simpler swearing-in event than the local county garbage commissioner.

  3. Re: THE 2012 POLITICS THREAD

Keep in mind the swearing-in itself is just a show this year.

Well Dave, you're a fucking idiot. That's why you voted for him.

Excellent point. As good as the ones you regularly made during chess club, sir.

    We're solving the world's problems.

    You'll see.

You can install the cold fusion reactor next to my hot water heater. The food replicator can go where the fridge was.

Before I finalize the order, though, you have to prove your credibility.

I love that the right-wing screech machine spent two years telling us the payroll tax cut was an insignificant cut that did nothing to stimulate the economy, and is now trying to use its expiration (which they were all telling us was overdue, just a few months ago) as a cudgel to bash the President with.

Any individual who thinks anyone in Washington cares about the middle class should have his/her entire paycheck docked for stupidity.
