    Temporary tax cut is temporary.

So does unemployment insurance. Yet, I seem to recall one party holding that hostage at the worst economic time in order to be able to get their friends to keep their temporary tax cuts. Money that was going to make a big difference in the lives of folks all across the country in very important ways. Such as deciding to buy the third yacht vs. keeping the roof over their heads.

Agreed it was temporary and bi- partisan but the economy was not yet read for the increase. You posted those links previously but how many actually read them? Based what we are hearing now not many.

Our political leadership certainly was not upfront about it for obvious reasons.

If we had responsible leaders they would have been telling people 6 months ago so they could have planned better

They certainly spent a lot more time letting people know they were fighting for the previous extension than they did letting them know they were going to let them expire this time around.

    How come?

Did they not want their low information voters knowing they were taking $40 away from them?

Why no twitter campaign? Why no White House website? They could have prepared people for this.

Now, people are going to have to make some tough decisions.

So, he had a White House press conference?

Did he bring folks who were losing $40 a month on stage with him to say how they were going to manage their finances?

He urged people to tweet about it, right, so everyone would know about it?

And, the WH website they created, and urged people to go to for financial advice, was great too.

No parade or picnic or balloon rides, either.

Although I heard "Temporary Payroll Tax Cuts Will End Soon Because It's Temporary And Therefore Not Permanent" Day at 6 Flags Over Obama was a huge success.

Yeah, but they did throw a parade and host picnics when they wanted to promote their honorable fight to retain the "temporary" cuts.

Why didn't they let the "temporary" cuts expire earlier, like they were supposed to? Once you extend a "temporary" cut, and declare them to be necessary, there are expectations they will continue.
