Bush also pretended to land a plane on an aircraft carrier to announce the end of the Iraq War.

Yet our troops remained there, and continued to get killed, for years afterward.

Why didn't he hold a nationally-televised press conference to admit he was wrong?

You're hysterical. What does that have to do with Obama?

This guy was a "new kind of politician" and a Democrat.

I'd think you'd want to hold him to some kind of standard.

What's your honest opinion of the job he's done Baron, and don't use the word "Bush" in your reply.

You're the one complaining about how he's holding press conferences and trotting out people as examples to push his agenda. I was pointing out how ridiculous that is when you consider the previous guy did it with even worse results.

Now, to your question, and yeah, I'm admittedly biased, but I think he's been just fine, although I would have liked him to have been more to the left, especially with health care. I think he also was a little naive at how much the opposition hated him and kept trying to compromise when he should have told them to go to hell.

And in his term, we didn't get 30 percent unemployment that seemed possible after the economy crashed, the stock market has bounced back, gays can now serve in the military without worrying about getting tossed out, we have a health care law that, although it's not perfect, will hopefully reduce the amount of people who don't have insurance, the war in Iraq has actually ended, and oh yeah, America's No. 1 enemy is now fish food. And he's done it despite the opposition party swearing that their only goal for four years was to see him be a failure.

I'd say that's a damn good first term. I was hoping for greatness, though. Maybe we'll get that in the second term.

Maybe that's where I diverge from most people.

I will gratefully accept just about any gift I am given and have no "expectations" I will receive a similar gift next week, next month or next year.

I've paid 6.2 percent FICA for 27 of my 29 working years. I was grateful for a two-year reduction in that rate. Would have been grateful for a third year but in no way expected it.

Raises the question in my mind: Does there need to be a strong middle class to stage a successful revolt?

I apologize for posts suggesting old_tony and Fart are pedophiles. My posts were over the top, even for a message board.

    I accept your apology, brother.

Make sure he uses that slogan when he demands his third term: "Obama 16 -- He didn't give us 30% unemployment"

I never saw the ones suggesting I was one. I did see the other ones. But if you're man enough to apologize I'm certainly man enough to accept.

Now, had you suggested I was a Bears fan ... :D

Thomas Paine was a out there, even among his own. It's funny that his background as a loser is swept under the rug. The moral is even losers can effect change.
