Good column yesterday by Maureen Dowd on lack of diversity in the cabinet:

" PRESIDENT OBAMA ran promoting women’s issues.

But how about promoting some women?

With the old white boys’ club rearing its hoary head in the White House of the first black president, the historian Michael Beschloss recalled the days when the distaff was deemed biologically unsuited for the manly discourse of politics. He tweeted: “1/12/1915, U.S. House refused women voting rights. One Congressman: ‘Their ankles are beautiful ... but they are not interested in the state.’ ”

Because OWS wasn't a rebellion that metastasized in more than 100 American cities.

Never understood the concept of objectifying a woman's ankle.

Was anyone armed? Any armories stormed? Any math buildings blown up?

Any "killing fields" in lower Manhattan?

Because in the old days that's all you got to see for free. The mini dress was not invented.

Rebellion? Just peaceful, law-abiding protest for the most part, though. You were alive for the '60s, right?

    So?

You really weren't around for the 60s, were you?

    This is more $5/lb. chicken.

No, I'm a little younger than you guys.
I've read about it in them Time-Life picture books, though.

Ordinary student protests are not backed by organized labor power.
OWS mobilized everyone from United Steelworkers to National Nurses United.
Not exactly a bunch of angry stoners.
The nature of the movement became more lucid the more diverse the support base grew.

OWS did not have the Monterey Pop Fest to kick things off. If you want to have a successful protest you need to start with good music.
