I just can't see the Tea Party guys allowing the anarchists to ride in the cabs of their pick-up trucks.

Oakland (and Berkeley) had bigger, badder riots on what seemed a weekly basis in the 60s and early 70s. As did many American cities and college towns.

Hell, Oakland had a riot nearly that big three years ago after the Oscar Grant shooting.

Wonder how many 'hardhats' were reborn into the Tea Party.

I heard that Kent State had to call in The National Guard to break up riots.

Please bounce me upon your knee grandpa and tell a story of how stuff used to be?
Because it's not like any of us here haven't done any reading on the subject.

"We've got to break the habit of negotiating through crisis over and over again."

You mean the "habit" of very labor union -- and "community organizer" -- ever?

Having read so much then, you'd likely be able to discern that if this country didn't go up in a mushroom cloud of race and class hatred and violence in the years 1965 through 1975 inclusive, it probably won't do so now.
