Whether or not Progressivism is morally, ethically or practically interchangeable with even the most rapacious forms of capitalism is a great deal less important than the fact that both must exist in tandem. The essential yin/yang tension between the two in this country is what keeps us healthy and productive.

I'm not sure as a moral matter how you manage to distinguish between one small self-interest group ("captains of industry") and another ("union bosses") and decide one is better or worse. At least in my version the little fella is more likely to get his slice.

Find the media treatment of Hillary interesting 2007-08 versus the last several weeks.
She was such a threat then they used GOP talking points against her to hoist up Obama.
They're practically writing her political obituary today.
But at least she admits she's a Democrat.

As a practical matter, there's no need to distinguish, because both groups likely used the power of the state to further their selfish aims.

Maybe, maybe, on a relative basis your little fella gets his slice. But I can never get past this one little fact: Life is rarely a zero-sum game.

OK, to me it's a given that life is NEVER a zero-sum game and corruption is alive and well in industry, politics and labor, but it's still pretty clear as to which "self-interest groups" better represent the interests of "little fella" relative to others.

Little fella could be replaced by majority of Americans with a vast tossed in for good measure.

I think my sister-in-law needs some tax help if she is suddenly paying $450 a month in additional federal taxes on a salary that is less than $60,000 per year.

    No game. Simple question.

In what way - specifically - are we "totally fucked as a people"?

You're the one making the assertion, after all.

As regards your payment, the folks down in accounts payable are very confused. You keep telling us you're leaving but never do.
