When you liberals that seem to think you have all the answers (and no, I don't think conservatives as they are have them either) realize the following, we'll be closer to finding the solution than we ever have.

What has government taught us - intended message or not?
Poor or working class - hey, what's good for the government is good for us. They spend what they don't have. All we need is another credit card. Me first.
Rich: The government's going to take it from me so I need to hoard it and hide it. Me first.

What's happened from the former is that we've hit a period where the banks have cried uncle, then gotten their bailout, then awarded all their me-firsts with nice bonuses and hit others with new charges for everything except blowing your nose in the bank drive-thru. Now the working class whose spending impacted the economy is stlll not even close to where it was when the system was benefiting from spending that wasn't backed up with funds, until it hit a tipping point where Average Joe couldn't pay for even the interest on the debt.
But government - ie, the powerful - think the practice of doing that at their level is healthy.,

Meanwhile, the rich, fearful of this, continues to hold tight to their wallets.

    The common denominator: Me first.

Until we approach our problems with a little dose of humility that we all contributed to this massive fuckup and do our part to get it right, we won't get it right. Just government spending will never work. There's a personal responsibility/accountability that no side seems to want to embrace.

So, why did you vote for Obama in the last election?

Then you really don't think clearly.
Remember Clinton's speech at the 92 DNC?

    I don't know why you stipulate "a year." I certainly didn't.

In any case, here's a 2004 UC Berkeley study that pegs the cost per year at $86 million. In California alone.

    Study

Feel free to extrapolate however you like.

As opposed to the other side, which makes it transcendently clear they don't give a flying flaming fuck about anybody who hasn't been born into the silver-spoon class.

Here's one article that says Walmart employees get $2.66 billion in government benefits each year.

    http://www.dailykos.com/story/2012/10/10/1141724/-Walmart-fuels-inequality-epidemic-taking-advantage-of-our-safety-net

It links to another site that researched through studies and news stories in different states. It doesn't say how they came up with the $2.66 billion, though. Still, it's a jarring number.

If you think your liberals will vote through a doubling of the minimum wage, you're in serious need of some help.
I think it's easier to deal with a party who admits they're for the rich rather than a party who panders you if you're needy when in truth, they don't give a shit about you either...no more than the guy who would give you crumbs out of his loaf of bread if you were hungry just so he could feel good about himself.

What? Are you excited about Rubio's performance last night? Will it be a good thing when SNL starts the show this week with a "Thirsty Rubio" skit? My God, he looked like a parched, non smoking Nathan Thurm. Sweaty? Check, Trouble swallowing? Check, Wetting his lips? check, Shaking? check. This "Rube"io made Bobby Jindl look like Winston Churchill. But that's OK. Stick with him as I am sure he will be just what Real America wants in 2016. The Republican Party, which I used to side with, has gone completely off the rails.

Clinton survived 92. Nixon survived 60. Not saying I'm in his corner at this point, but it's way too premature to dismiss him.

"Mr. President, I still live in the same working class neighborhood I grew up in. My neighbors aren’t millionaires. They’re retirees who depend on Social Security and Medicare. They’re workers who have to get up early tomorrow morning and go to work to pay the bills. They’re immigrants, who came here because they were stuck in poverty in countries where the government dominated the economy."---Marco Rubio, Feb. 12, 2013.

Take a tour of Marco Rubio's $675,000 working class home.

  12. I'm not a conservative, either.
