  1. The soldiers guarding the Tomb of the Unknown Solider are ornamental. Discuss.

I'm saying the full-dress military at every state dinner are always by definition ornamental.

Why make an issue of it now?

This wasn't some impromptu decision to have the military members, from the ceremonial unit, on hand for the Governors' Association Dinner, stand in the background.

It was part of the planning all along, and it was Hollywood's idea:

When a politician -- and she is one -- does something that might be criticized, you surround them with military or children.

No one said it was impromptu.

But why criticize a ceremonial delegation of full-dress military personnel for appearing ceremonially?

My only criticism was that they way the lined up was to scripted. It looked like a bunch of
mannequins in a store window display.

I guess we also learned that Michelle is no longer ashamed of America.

My criticism is with Boehner for using the example of military as props. If he is going to criticize Obama for it, then he should have criticized Bush in 2003.

If anything, Bush's prop use was worse, because, in spite of what he said and implied, the war wasn't over yet. We thought Saddam had WMDs, and we hadn't captured him yet. Saddam could have launched his WMDs at our troops the next day, killed thousands of them, and made Bush look like the dumbest idiot in the entire history of the world. W is lucky that didn't happen.

They're probably being bullied into it - which is proper, you know, from that side of the argument.

The opposition should get Laura Bush as its face person. She, unlike Tim Tebow, stood up for her beliefs.
