I don't think it's a pattern of threats but I do think there is a pattern of manipulation, taking advantage of for the most part a media favorable to Obama.

Agree it's nothing new but giving credit where credit is due The Obama team has done a good job of controlling the news cycle to their advantage.

I think you're probably right. The DoD can sustain these cuts with very little cost to our military capabilities.

So, why should I think the rest of the departments can't do the same thing?

If you're not worried about DoD, why should I be worried about other cuts to the budget?

I would be more than happy to stand in TSA lines in the interest of reducing deficits as opposed to standing in line to combat islamic terrorism.

I only got into the "gutted" military thing in response to the over-the-top plea Boom posted on behalf of our "gutted" social programs.

That said, for the $400 billion cost of our grounded F-35 program, we surely could buy an awful lot of veteran's care and hot lunch programs in local schools, couldn't we?

You mean the over the top plea letter to Obama supporters from Stephanie Cutter.
    I'm not kidding.

    Exactly.

I thought that was an over-the-top plea in exactly the same way our "gutted" military capabilities (per the Pentagon) is an over-the top plea.

That said, we do seem to have stockpiled many more weapons than hot lunches in this country.

I've got to say, after reading those emails, that is not a threat.

He's telling Woodward that Woodward is wrong, and will look stupid.

Now, of course he's spinning, but it's still not a threat.

The fact that Woodward writes back such a breezy email is evidence even Woodward didn't view it as a threat.

I'm more concerned that he used the phrase, "My bad".

And, why didn't Ruckus link to the Politico story with the actual emails?

  9. We don't wear American flag lapel pins to honor such notions as good education or providing meals to those in need. We do it to honor the guns.

I guess the President -- or maybe even the Senate which hasn't written a budget in years -- should have proposed something like that, instead of automatic, across the board, cuts then.

    Speak for yourself.

Glenn Beck's listeners have been stocking up on food for years, and have "food insurance".
