The Party can get rid of anyone, Comrade Ben. They'll either make Woodward an unperson or make him the subject of the Two Minutes Hate.

On a serious note, I find it ridiculous that calling attention to Woodward's mistakes is "attacking the messenger" in your mind. And the emails in question weren't about the questions you asked. The "threat" was about Woodward taking the incorrect position that it was dirty pool for Obama to ask for revenues in the negotiations.

And now the Dear Leader is trying to blame it all on the other side and is clearly willing to put the country's security at risk to do so.

Then how are we so sure it's a threat?

You mean taxes? You can do without the party-line term for tax increases here on a message board.

Well, we can't be sure of it. However, seeing as though Bob Woodward has been writing about Washington politics and dealing with politicians almost as long as Barack Obama has been alive I am willing to give him the benefit of the doubt whether he was threatened or not. I think he has earned at least that much.

Well, given the emails, we can make our own determination. Woodward's "heat" response suggests he didn't think of it as a threat to him, while a subsequent answer suggests he imagined it would be a threat to someone who was far less experienced.

At any rate, the equivalency of this is some noted, long-time college football journalist keeping a folder of an argument he had with, say, Nick Saban's assistant, and producing an email while expressing concern over the way he was talked to for the benefit of some dude who covers Alabama football that he's never met. He'd be laughed out of town. He would. I don't care what his pedigree is.

    False equivalency.

    Fallacious appeal to authority.

Well, yes, it's false in the sense that there is no commensurate anti-football media womb into which said journalist could crawl.

You'd think you wouldn't have to tell someone like Bob Woodward to "grow up," but in the face of his display of sniveling whiny wimp-ass butt-hurt, there's not much else to say.

Did the mean men say nasty things to Bobby Wobby? Boo hoo.
