Your payroll tax contribution was not increased.

There was a temporary payroll tax vacation enacted, as relief during the recovery.

The payroll tax vacation was lifted on schedule.

Your taxes did not go up.

Your taxes were lowered, temporarily, then restored to prior levels. As planned. With bipartisan support.
