On December 26th, my child did not bitch because he didn't get presents.

  3. It sucks to be getting less money. In fact, everything sucks. It sucks that a dollar doesn't go as far as it used to. It sucks people live paycheck to paycheck.

What's the solution? No matter if a Republican or Democrat holds the Presidency, does anyone really envision a scenario where the poor and middle class get a greater share of the collective wealth?

The payroll tax vacation was a gift. It was like a mini-economic stimulus. It was like the checks that W. sent you that year.

Did you complain when he didn't send you a check the next year? Did he raise your taxes that year?

Is your payroll tax rate now - compared to Jan. 20, 2009 - higher, lower or the same?

Over the course of the Obama administration, you will pay less in payroll taxes than you would have without the temporary payroll vacation.

So if Obama would have sent you a single check for that money, then didn't send you a single check for that money the next year, you'd be fine with that? But you aren't fine with the way it was actually structured?

When you go to a store and buy something during a 3-day sale...are you suggesting the sale price is the regular one?

Not in its fundamental nature. One year you got a check, the next you didn't. Is it a tax hike?

(This is what the thread is reduced to, arguing what the meaning of "is" is.)

Also, not for nothing, but you will see that Social Security money again some day.

It is in a lot of stores that set regular prices high to make sales look better. Anyone is a fool to pay full retail. There is always going to be a sale.
