    That's a good-looking strawman you've got there.

'Sote, putting semantics aside for a moment, I have trouble believing you're naive enough to think a temporary tax cut should be extended indefinitely faced with the level of our deficit? Obama was left with a crushing deficit AND the worst recession of our lifetimes. The Bush tax cuts were wisely extended until it was clear the recovery was gaining traction. At a certain point, however, we need to pay for what we've already bought. I can see someone making the argument that it was too soon to let the temporary payroll cuts expire (I might even agree to a certain extent) but not that they shouldn't be allowed to expire.

    Temporary tax cut is temporary.

Majority Republican House could have argued to make payroll tax relief permanent.

Majority Republican House did not argue to make payroll tax relief permanent.

    It will be.

The Social Security fixes are pretty easy.

Whether temporary or not it's still an increase that hurts the middle class. Something Obama claimed that he was not going to do and was not upfront about it .

I think it was the wrong time to do it. We needed another year to keep the economy moving in the right direction.

Saying that it was lifted too early is a fair argument.

Saying that Obama hurt the middle class is not.

He could have never pushed for the payroll tax vacation to begin with. The payroll tax vacation helped the middle class.

The payroll tax decrease was a bone to the Republicans to get agreement on raising debt ceiling past 2012 election.
