Doesn't mean she isn't an ignorant foof who has no business talking about things she doesn't understand.

If we, as a country, still want to be America, there's almost nothing that can be done to prevent domestic terrorism.

Hindsight is always perfect but the Boston bombers were American citizens and that comes with some rights and privileges just like it does for you or me or whomever.

That means, at least in theory, I can call someone and not have the Feds listening in. As I understand the NSA program, what triggers action is behavior outside a normal pattern.

If an immigrant still occasionally communicates with family overseas and talks to family inside the U.S., that isn't going to set off any bells or whistles. And it isn't like the FBI can infiltrate a terrorist cell made up of two brothers.

Fort Hood is more complicated. The shooter was an Army officer and American-born. And because of his position, that generated a perception that his communications were part of his work for the Army and that cleared him from a larger investigation.

Stop using logic. It doesn't work with conservatives.

Good point...conservatives only understand slogans and platitudes like "Hope and Change!" and "Change you can believe in!"

Facts be damned! Conservatives obviously aren't smart enough to look at things like records and results...they just make up their minds about something (or someone) and defend them with intensity...regardless of how big a failure this person or thing turned out to be.

If only they were smart like liberals, who would never fall for slick packaging and the right lines..

    Hope! Change!

As much as I like Palin this is a fair point. I understand why she quit the governorship, but I am not a big fan of her sniping from the edges like this.

Our carefully crafted free republic is nearly vanished, members and moderators.
One of the few liberties left is the right to self-protection.
But because we've allowed our cities to turn into war zones, and with the pols refusing to maintain order, the easy answer is to take guns away from the rest of us.
If there was ever a time we needed to be ARMED and PROTECTED, it is now.

Hey, I won't quibble with you re: your characterization of Mrs. Palin. But her point is still well-taken: If indeed this surveillance is so valuable for our security, then why in the hell has it failed so spectacularly in these instances? Put another way, if a given preventative measure can't deliver up any more security than this, what the hell's the point?

    Ben-
The slagging of Palin on this thread is typical of the liberal mind.
The libs claim to be compassionate, enlightened, magnanimous. All the rest.
Until someone disagrees with them, that is.
It's pretty incredible how quickly they become so aggressively ugly and nasty.
It seems clear they think they are just better than everyone else.
Oh, yes, they are right while everyone else is not just wrong - but evil, and dumb.
    Look at how Occupy operates.
Look at how the 'demonstrations' going back to the '80s always are conducted.
Look at the outrageous comments made by Democrat congressmen and senators.
Look at how we have been viciously attacked here on this thread.
Look at how anyone they hate gets treated.
They are supposed to be full of light.
    But they have dark hearts.

If we believe the politicians and other officials who defend the program, it has stopped far worse attacks than Boston. I don't know how much I believe that, but it does seem plausible at least.

It's not just liberals who don't like the Repugs' recent history and hypocrisy.

And Palin is little more than a vapid publicity whore. Everyone knows that.

I would hope that she and Huckabee have disqualified themselves from being leading voices on the right by their refusal to seek office as they chase the dollar signs.

That's the rub, isn't it? Our willingness to endure this is contingent on our trusting those who implement/oversee it.
