Meh ... in all seriousness, if Perry wants to get pissed at anyone, he oughta take a look at his GOP underlings (especially his presumed successor Lt. Gov. Dewhurst) who let that situation develop. They let that bill fester, with the clock dwindling, until it became feasible to use a filibuster to stop it. Davis was unsuccessful in her ploy, ultimately, but she was close. Had that bill come up for final vote on Tuesday, there's no way she could have stopped it. I doubt she'd have even tried it.

Further, all these Texas Dems who are congratulating her ... why weren't they up for a go at it?

I think it was largely a matter of physical fitness, wasn't it? Personally I could never have gone that long without taking a piss.

doc, she has your vote in the governor race, right?

I've wondered there should be any ramifications for tampering with the time stamp of the vote. At least a censure or something.

That was part of the deal they cut -- Republicans would concede the vote and Democrats would drop it regarding the tampering.

    Ah, didn't see that. Thanks.

Pretty ironic that he's pulling the "Who are we?" card, seeing the fact that he can't carry a fetus or give birth himself.

There was something on it earlier where the Dems got together and chose her as the one to do it because of her personal background and being physically in shape for it.

You know when Huckabee dropped the "Jesus wept" line about DOMA? He followed it up with a plea for cash.

They said we were never going to have snow again, and that we should prepare for southern England to turn gradually into a Mediterranean world. There were going to be olive groves in the Weald of Kent, and the whole place was going to be so generally broiling in summer that no one would be able to move between noon and 4pm, after which people would come out to play boules and sip pastis, to the whine of a mandolin, in the dusty square that had once been a village green.

That’s what they said: the BBC, and all the respectable meteorologists – and I reckon there were tens of thousands of people who took these prophecies entirely seriously. Omigod, they said to themselves, we are all going to fry.

He sounds balanced and completely rational.

And yet he was paraphrasing the unbalanced and completely irrational. That's a pretty mean feat. :D

I could find myself voting for her. She doesn't exhibit the insufferableness of Democrats/liberals of an eastern stripe, but she's run largely local campaigns to date. Would depend on who she's up against and how she positioned herself in a statewide race. But, yes, I could be convinced.
