Yeah, this country is going to be ruined because insurance companies' death panels can't deny someone coverage for a pre-existing condition.

So is mandatory provision the next part of Obamacare to be kicked down the road.

Really? Then why are Democrats running as fast as they can away from their vote for it?

Notice they don't kick the tax collections for it down the road.

I am curious and can't seem to find a quick answer ... by what authority can the White House take this step? Wasn't the timeline itself -- at least certain tipping points (e.g., the beginning of the employer mandate) -- part of the law?

  6. Others have made this point but it is only the employer mandate that is being delayed.

The GOP in the House and Senate should demand that the individual mandate also be delayed. How could the Democrats argue against that without looking like boobs? If the whole thing is delayed then it gets one step closer to being repealed.

If indeed the White House has the authority to do this, then that takes the whole "repeal" issue off the table (since it's highly unlikely a GOP President is also going to have a 60+ majority in the Senate with which to work). All a President has to say is that he/she has ordered the IRS or HHS to not implement certain portions of the law. So a GOP presidential candidate no longer will be simply blowing smoke by saying he/she could end the ACA (as a practical matter) on day one.

And, in all honesty, I can't believe it's actually that simple.

Maybe there's something in the law that doesn't make the timeline be a hard and fast timeline? Or gives the president the power to change the timeline?

I think there's just a delay in enforcement of it. If you're a business, you're supposed to still implement it. But if you don't, you won't be fined - yet.

Or maybe the Dear Leader is once again ignoring the law when it suits him.

This is fucking hilarious. Shitty president pushes for a shitty law then isn't man enough to implement it once the idiots who bankrolled his abortion of a presidency realize how fucked up said law is and start raising hell.

Do you actually know the law in this case or are you talking out of your ass again?

No question Obama has handled this badly. Part of the reason the Republicans have been so successful in undermining the rest of the federal government is because the President hasn't fought nearly hard enough for his own agenda.
