I actually thought of you when I posted that. It is true. To further the parallel, I think many people in Obama's camp are overconfident when they see that 70-plus percent number too, and they may be surprised that what happens Tuesday did not seem possible as of Monday afternoon.

Just like some folks thought no way could Pablo take Verlander deep twice WOOHOO GIANTS HACK HACK HACKERS AND WORLD CHAMPIONS WHOOP WHOOP!!!!!!

To further the parallels, Ryan Lizza's excellent story about the Obama ground game in this week's New Yorker, and how it may affect the election, along with some early poor decisions made on how to define Romney before the debates, indicates that there is room for both traditional reporting (i.e. clubhouse stuff) AND Nate Silver polling analysis (i.e. political sabermetrics).

I wouldn't say Silver necessarily devalues all journalists who don't know numbers. But he does devalue BAD journalists that don't know numbers.

    Just golden.

Former Bush FEMA fuckup Michael Brown, rips Obama response to Sandy:

Brown, of course, is now a right-wing radio host. Quelle surprise.

The "rescue operation" which all major relief organizations have already said is counterproductive and impedes their actual operations by making them deal with loads of random mismatched shit people bring in to dump on "relief efforts."

It is also to be noted that Willard, the multi-hundred-millionaire, ain't donating a nickel himself, but is banging the drums for his presumably much-less-well-off supporters to donate stuff (which they can probably much less afford than he can).

"Hey, I've got an idea!! Why don't YOU donate to charity!!"

Ridiculous. I've faulted Rasmussen for years on this one point, and with the isolated exception of 2008, they've underperformed as badly as Harold Stassen.

I know a number of people who persist in following/worshipping/making life decisions based on bad/unsound numbers. Many of them are broke. Most of them are frustrated, and wonder where they went wrong.

It's not hard to figure out.

Chas Pierce comes not to bury Chris Christie, but to praise him.

Oh, well if you know a number of people, that's that then. Thanks for letting me know.

Fox News (specifically Megyn and Ed Rollins) advising that in this climate it would not be a good idea for Obama camp to continue with swing-state ads calling Romney an economic traitor. Too negative at a time when America needs to be positive and together. In the opinion of Fox News and Megyn and Ed, this could really backfire on the Democrats. They should cut some new ads showing volunteerism in a non-partisan way, Ed and Megyn believe.

Christie has 3 1/2 years to return to his brutal-arrogant-fatfuck-bully schtick. The fact he toned it down and played nice for one day is irrelevant, and Pierce should be smart enough to say so.

A lot of Dems said nice supportive things about GWB the day after 9/11, too. How did that work out?
