Dear Britwrit: Romney collaborated with Democrats here in Massachusetts because he had to -- as he was dealing with a veto-proof Democratic legislature. And they overrode hundreds of his vetoes. He has to betray one set of people who voted for him if he wins, and I'll bet big money he chooses to betray the suckers, excuse me "independents and moderates" who believe he won't just be another right-wing Republican.

It might make economic sense if you make $500,000 or more or you earn your money on investments and want to hold down the capital gains tax. That's all I got.

Sorry, but a party's nominee should not be rewarded for his party being nothing but a stone wall.

Putting this in chess terms, why did you resign instead of playing the game?

More like he's above the game.

No one's above chess. You take that back or this will descend into a name-calling fest that would make Starman blush.

Ricky's politics as nihilism gimmick -- "I don't care but I hope Romney wins just so I can mastubate to liberal DERP!" -- grows increasingly boring with each at bat. Cute at first, but just as predictable as anything any true believer would post from either side.

Meanwhile, this article is one both sides should find interesting. Basically, Republican pollsters acknowledge that most of the polls don't look good for them, but privately they're perplexed about what they see as over-sampling among minorities and young people.

Unlike the moronic Politico story that tried to pour water on Nate Silver last week, this one actually acknowledges that if Romney wins it's not Silver who will need to reasses as much as it is pollsters, who are all over the map ideologically predicting what turnout will be.

Why the Occupy movement failed. Some fascinating numbers on Tea Party members getting elected with the numbers near 1,000. Interesting stuff.

    Re: THE 2012 POLITICS THREAD

Oh, I definitely have politics. I'm just vain and silly enough that my interest in Internet lulz outweighs them. Plus, as I've said before, I only bother to argue with people I find to be worth arguing over, and the conservatives on this board generally don't meet that standard.

That was an excellent article explaining the differences in turnout assumptions and why Romney can still believe he has a chance, albeit not much of one.
