Despite his recent disavowals of the Randian bear hug, Ryan has made no secret of why he adores Ayn and Atlas, and he was clear in his speech:

Compare and contrast that to Ryan's speech at the AARP last week:

“When I think about Medicare, I don’t just think about charts and graphs and numbers,” he told the crowd. “My thoughts go back to a house on Garfield Street in Janesville. My wonderful grandma, Janet, had Alzheimer’s and moved in with mom and me. Though she felt lost at times, we did all the little things that made her feel loved.”

He added, “We had help from Medicare, and it was there, just like it’s there for my mom today.”

Again: They also get less abortions.

So the rates of pregnancy, as opposed to births, are way closer than this graphic would indicate.

I do know that no sitting president since FDR has won re-election with unemployment over 7.2%. We're at 8.1% right now and the actual rate is more like 10%.

Then we had the durable good report today and the report that the previous GDP report has now been adjusted down to 1.3% today. I know liberals keep putting their hands over their eyes and their fingers in their ears. Independents aren't joining them.

So let me ask, since I believe you have said you're still undecided to an extent: Do you think Obama deserves re-election?

Not really. He's too much of a wonk, and shifts he's made in his stance on social policy disappoint me. And his Race To The Top initiative is the wrong kind of solution for education. Obama buys into too many of the old liberal notions of how success should work.

That said, Romney will bring a large amount of buyer's remorse. Voting for him is like buying a 100-inch TV for the Super Bowl, then turning the thing off for the next nine months.

I think it will be like 2008, people will take off work early on that day to avoid it/get through the area. It'll be fine. We have road closures all the time when both candidates swing through this part of the country. It's an inconvenience, but it'll stuff hotel rooms for a few days.
