So? There have been political consequences to military staffing decisions for 2500 years.

The infuriating rightwing nonsense of Ryan continues:

I'm thinking Romney wins with 277 EV. I hope I'm wrong, but I think the turnout will favor him.

This wouldn't shock me. The states where there are wide swaths of red and a couple of blue big cities -- Wisconsin and Ohio -- I am going to be looking for reports about what voting is like in those cities. We've already seen reports of six-hour waits in Florida.

Two people whose jobs are on the line tomorrow: Barack Obama and Nate Silver.

Ya know, I was thinking of this yesterday and again this morning, and watching and listening that the polls and talking heads are all but saying Obama will win -- and it wouldn't surprise me in the least if Romney wins and the reaction is like that the day after the first debate. Honestly, at this point, nothing would surprise me.

Please leave it open. Politics never ends. There's a sock puppet on here stirring the pot but he's mostly comic relief.

I get extremely anxious about elections, and this one is no exception, so I am spending 90 percent of my time envisioning a Romney win. It's surely possible, but it would be an upset. But deep down in the one percent or so of me that's rational, I think anybody who isn't nervous about this election, no matter which candidate they support, just doesn't care that much about it. The thing is that damn close.

I just don't get the feeling that it is. One or 2 percent might sound like a lot to us in a state. Or even 3 or 4 percent. But those are tens of thousands of voters who have to be flipped in the last 24 hours. That's a lot of work to do.

    I don't think it's that close.

    Obama comfortably.

Ehh, I see Silver like a bookie or poker player. He's gathered a lot of info, done the math and decided on the probabilities of a certain outcome. More often than not, he's going to be right. But every so often the underdog hits the Hail Mary or draws a one-outer for a gutshot straight.

Oh no. Silver has become the Enemy Of The Right. And if they win they're taking his scalp.
