I don't think I'm arguing that. Just saying that some folks want to include their voluntary charity activities as part of their government-defined responsibility. They are two different things.

Also, allowing deductions for religion is in fact the government subsidizing religion, so I do not like that.

Charitable contributions should not be tax deductible, IMO. If Mitt's at a 15% marginal rate, then every dollar he donated to charity cost him only 85 cents. Put another way, he got a dollar's worth of utility (the satisfaction of seeing his charity gain $1) for only 85 cents in cash outflows. And if we raise marginal rates on the upper brackets, then the rich will get even more utility on their charitable deductions, which just isn't fair.

Fair enough ... until "helping the poor" gets lumped in there as part of the government's mission, in which case charity-givers have to be given credit for the work they do in that regard.

Somebody's batshit crazy ... it's either every poll everywhere or guys like Dick Morris and Rush Limbaugh, who have political motives in addition to a need/want to keep people tuned in until the first week of November.

    http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0912/81845.html?hp=f1

“I believe if the election were held today, Romney would win by 4 or 5 points,” trumpeted Dick Morris on Fox News last week, predicting a win for the GOP ticket in Florida, Ohio, Virginia, Nevada and Pennsylvania. In public polls right now, Romney is losing in each of those states. But, Morris said, that’s because the data are all wrong.

I thank old_tony for making us all aware of www.unskewedpolls.com. It's better than The Onion.

    Also from that link:

But it’s one thing to advocate for a preferred party and portray the other in the worst possible light. Questioning the integrity of professional pollsters is something different: It’s preposterous.

Consider: For the vast polling conspiracy of 2012 to be legitimate would be to presume that longtime GOP pollster Bill McInturff is on the deal. McInturff co-runs the respected Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll with veteran Democratic pollster Peter Hart.

McInturff is also business partners with Neil Newhouse, Romney’s own pollster. So, by this standard, Romney’s own campaign could also be part of the conspiracy to … hurt the Romney campaign.

I saw a tweet earlier that somebody had used the unskewed methodology on the 2008 election cycle. Hillary should have been the nominee and McCain should have beaten Obama according to unskewed's methods.

Sorry, but the lefties here have their fingers in their ears and their hands over their eyes. I posted the same stuff Friday or Saturday. They didn't touch it with a 10-foot (unskewed :D )pole.

First two results of a Google search of George F. Hayek bring up a dead guy.

Any resemblance of this posting identity to real persons, living or dead, is purely coincidental.

P.S. Love this in the linked obituary: "A celebration of George's life will be held ... at Treasure Island Resort and Casino in the Tahiti Room." Sounds like a good sendoff!
