I don't like it that my guy got his ass kicked.

But I don't hate it that the guy who could possibly beat him at least looked like a competent potential president, even as I disagree with him on the details of most policy and would never pull the lever for him.

OK, AQB, as long as you hold President Romney to the same standard, as I'm sure you will.

Despite Romney's "virtuoso" performance (which will no doubt be studied by speech classes for years to come) and potential "gamechanger" the fact remains he is a cross between Gordon Gekko and Bobby Newport who has a mere four years of political experience and that ended almost six years ago.

Hey, I'm just following the standards set by the party in the White House.

I don't what this means for either candidate, but my Twitter feed was dominated by talk of the corpse formerly known as Jim Lehrer, and firing Big Bird.

I love how Willard kept praising the education system in "his state."

Hey, Willard, it hasn't been your state in quite a while. But thanks for praising Deval Patrick's work.

Which were set by the previous party in the White House, which were set by the previous party in the White House, which were set by the previous party, etc., etc., ad inf., world without end.

Worth noting that Mr. Romney 'won' the night by repudiating the last two years of his own campaign.

I will probably vote for Romney -- in my own personal economic self interests... but I have no idea why people think he won last night. I thought both candidates looked terrible last night. I thought it was essentially a tie -- and tie goes to the incumbent.

The fact that he couldn't articulate how you can cut taxes and still raise revenues drove me crazy. It's a really simple concept. If you have a higher income, you can have a lower tax rate and still pay more in actual tax dollars than a higher tax rate on a lower income level. It's not a difficult concept to understand yet he kept letting Obama hammer him on the $5 trillion tax cut line.

Now whether you believe that Romney can actual grow incomes and make his plan work is point that can be debated.

And cutting PBS is such a stupid talking point. That money is essentially meaningless in the budget. That's like looking at your personal budget and deciding that dumping the $15 you spend yearly on lifesavers candy will help you get rid of your $4000 credit card debt. It doesn't hurt... but it's the wrong place to focus.

Speaking of snap polls. You know that one CNN did, showing overwhelmingly that Willard won?

It would appear CNN only asked Southern white people, 50 or older.

Romney's favorability with these people was 56-42 before the speech. That's almost the exact opposite of his numbers with the rest of the country (In fact, he's worse than 42-56).

Also interesting, the debate didn't change any of their minds.

    Good job, CNN.

US tax rates have never been lower, have they?

Please tell me those cross tabs are fake. That looks like someone did the polling equivalent of "Hed goes here" while waiting for the real statistics to come in.

    McNuggets,

You know why people see it as a Romney victory? Romney was running a Titanic of a campaign. Horrible mistakes (the 47 per cent), total lightweight, the guy was a complete disaster against a smooth incumbent.

Last night, he looked much more confident and "presidential" than Obama. Honestly, I thought Obama was going to kick his ass. I was expecting Romney to go up there and trip over the podium like Chevy Chase doing Gerald Ford. But, he was really good and Obama was stunningly weak.

To me, that's a win for Romney. It's not what he said...it's how he presented. He looked really good.
