It's more like the "Broken Windows" theory on crime.

You've got to take care of the little things before people will take you seriously. And, when folks see that there are no sacred cows, it's more likely they will agree to cuts in their pet programs.

So long as we fund things like PBS, NPR, NEA, people will circle the wagons on their favored programs.

    For sure.

Elected officials give the military money, but insist it be spent in their district, or with their donor, to build systems the military doesn't want or need.

    That should stop.

The benefits of those programs far outweigh the insignificant expense of them.

YF, which is the tax deduction or loophole that Romney has proposed cutting that makes the most sense and does the best job of closing the $5 trillion gap in his budget?

Maybe we should stop being the world police for a while. That would be interesting.

I think I should be the POTUS. I turned our deficit into a $2T surplus on here.

Could there be anything more precious than the fact that Al Gore is blaming Obama's dismal performance on Denver's altitude.

The thing about cutting the military or any part of government is that doing such also cuts jobs. A lot of jobs. Jobs that are not easily or quickly replaced in the private sector. And that adds to unemployment. Is that what we want?

On the bright side for Obama, up next is the Biden-Ryan debate.

If you won't cut defense, where are you gonna find that other $5 trillion in savings?

The leadership has done a nice job of telling base to ixnay on the azy-cray for the time being, but all of the ticket's actual positions are straight Tea Party.
