Fulmer out at Tennessee

I disagree. Fans just want to see a winning team; they don't care if every game is 10-6 as long there's a W at the end of the afternoon.

Maybe this isn't a good example, but I'd imagine there's little glee at Kansas State, which is 4-5 but averaging 37 points per game. And it's played in front of no home sellouts this year.

Exactly -- Pederson is back at Pittsburgh, which is about the only place small-time enough where he can pull his "I rule with an iron fist" act and they are so stupid they celebrate it....Alberts, I have no idea where he is.

I do know where Nebraska is, though, miles and miles and miles away from being anything close to good.......

And does anyone really think Bill Cowher would be a good college coach? Forget for a moment that he has, to my knowledge, zero college experience in at least 25 years (if ever), he hasn't coached football in two years and I don't know if he'd be able to (a) relate to high school kids in order to recruit and (b) have the energy or enthusiasm needed to recruit.

The same could be said about Jon Gruden, who is rich enough to buy a house in Knoxville to live in the offseason if he wants to now without the headaches of recruiting......

As for Fisher -- as the poster just said -- why the hell would he leave the Titans?

And one other thing -- given the track record of those not named Pete Carroll -- do you really want an NFL guy?

People on the West Coast were saying the same thing about the gaggle of coaches who ran USC into the ground. People thought Carroll would be next in line, especially after the home loss to Kansas State to open the '02 season. And then everything changed, and USC is the premier program in America, like it had been for decades.

Tennessee is fine. A new coach will come in. Recruiting will be rejuvenated, and the Vols will be back among the elite in no time.

Calm down, SEC fanbois and fangoils. Everything will be OK in Knoxville in a year. Maybe two. Maybe even three. But it will be fine.

It is appropriate, I think, to offer congrats to Coach Fulmer for a job well-done at UT.
His winning was consistent, with rare exception, and he most often fielded teams that were feared by the opposition and by the opposition's fan base.
UT football has piled up too, too many wins and Fulmer always avoided probation.
I can't comment on how many do-nuts he likes to eat or the bad-blood spat that continues between Alabama and UT, but Fulmer did a helluva lot of winning while he was there.
The fan base at UT was overcome by unrealistic expectations of winning every game, all the time, due to Fulmer's success.
I honestly will say, "Congratulations on maintaining a prominent program that was listed annually among Top 25 polls and listed as SEC contenders year-in, year-out."
Lots of schools would love to do half as good as Fulmer's been able to do there at UT.

Fisher would have been a good rumor a year ago. Now? No way in hell...

Everyone has a price. That's just an early bargaining ante sort of quote. He's thinking about it, definitely.

Spurrier won't take this job for the same reason he didn't take the LSU job after Saban left.

Tennessee has already won its title. Spurrier wanted to go somewhere where he could put a serious mark on the program.

And the every person has their price theory doesn't work with Spurrier. The guy left $15 million on the table with the Redskins. People can say they're not motivated by money, but Spurrier has already backed it up.
