    We?

  2. That would be a state holiday.

If you ask me - and nobody did - Fulmer was a very good coach. (spoiled) UT fans were very hard on him - similar to Lloyd Carr. Like UM, I hope Vols fan get their just desserts.

As someone sitting in Birmingham and with plenty of orange-blooded relatives up in the hills, I have heard nothing in the way of Tuberville to UT. And considering Tubs does his best recruiting in a duck blind, he'd be a bad choice for that program, which needs to recruit nationally because it has less of a natural talent base than Florida, UGA or Bama. Likewise, I don't see Leach's personality fitting in at all in Knoxville. There are certain schools in the SEC where quirky works, and UT isn't one of them.

I don't know if Gruden would be a good choice or not, but the same people on here who say it is impossible said the same thing about Saban to Alabama.

Part of Fulmer's problem is the game has passed him by. I think with his style, even if you lose and the game is entertaining, people can live with it so to speak. Even with recent wins, the games were just blaahhh.

Until the end of my days, I will never understand this line of thinking. Losing is okay, as long as it is entertaining.
And by entertaining what do you mean?
Miss a field goal at the end to lose by one point, or sling it down the field 50 times and hope you have some completions and touchdowns in a loss.
The way to win is score more touchdowns than the other team, not get close but totally win the style points contest.
    Stupid. Just completely stupid.

Tub won't be able to get offensive talent needed to beat Georgia and Florida.

I'm not on the Tub bandwagon, but at one point at Auburn, not that long ago, he had four NFL starters or eventual first round picks in his backfield.
    He can recruit just fine.

I think the difference between Gruden and Saban is the state of the Bucs now and the Dolphins then.

The Dolphins weren't anywhere near the playoffs, which means Saban, like Petrino last season, were feasably poachable from their NFL teams.

Gruden, whose Buccaneers would currently be the No.5 seed in the playoffs, is in a completely different scenario. There's no way he ditches them in the middle of a playoff run, and if that happens he would have basically a month to hit the recruiting trail if the Bucs get eliminated in the first round.

    I'd say it's a long-shot, if not a complete non-starter.

I'm thinking this is the right decision --- it was time --- but I can't help but think that Tennessee fans might find out what people at places like Texas A&M and Michigan have found out -- that maybe the grass isn't always greener on the other side of that long-time head coach who wins a lot but not quite enough to satisfy the lunatic fringe.......
