  1. No, I think the publishers who decide how to spend the money do.

Heard this week cnhi Texas papers in Athens and Jacksonville are dropping home delivery and going mail-only and they are eliminating their Monday papers. Also heard (seond-hand) that Mount Pleasant cut its entire editorial staff except for ME and SE.

How in the hell can you put out a paper with just two people ... and management types at that?
It this is true, then CNHI has REALLY hit rock bottom ...

I don't think Mount Pleasant is owned by CNHI. They're not listed on CNHI's web site and the Mount Plesant web site says they're owned by Palmer Media.

A small-town weekly, maybe, if you have enough freelancers to fill a few pages. (Our ME and NE do their own layout, as well as writing every week.) But a daily? That's rough.

they own a few good papers, which were much better before they bought them.

Mount Pleasant was part of the initial sale to JRC when they bought all the Michigan papers. Their website still says it's a JRC

I think he was talking Mount Pleasant, Texas.

As for Mount Plesant, Mich., I wonder if it's still getting lake-effect snow? [/theabominablybadToddHarris]
