My bad. The comment was misleading and I glossed over the link as a result

I assume it is like peeking at the end of the book before you start reading, which I have actually done. I still don't get why I do it. I know I was very happy that I had avoided spoilers when I saw Avengers: Endgame, yet I was still tempted to click on the link Regan posted. I didn't, but I'm still tempted.

I was just offering everyone the option. Nothing more.

You are the Devil, sir. I've been tempted to click that link at least four times. Resisting temptation so I don't have to sell ignorance and feign surprise to my wife when we watch together lol.

My wife hates GoT, so I don't really have that issue.

Spoilers don't bother me. When I started watching GOT, I brushed up on the source material. When I started watching Outlander on Starz, I read up on the source material.

I started reading the Song of Ice and Fire books around the end of the first season and I finished during the third season, so I knew some stuff ahead of time. It never really bothered me, in part because I knew they were at least changing some things for the show.

I read "The Natural" as a teenager so I didn't have to watch the movie to see how it all turned out. Poor Roy.

This whole seasons feels like Benioff and Weiss were like "Welp, fuck let's exit this shit as quickly as we can. Hopefully George will die and no one will ever know what the true ending was going to look like. Most likely he has another 20,000 pages to go, so let's just do like a rough outline of what those pages would have looked like. Then maybe we can move on to our next project, because this has been exhausting."

I've already seen an article making that argument, with the coffee cup thing as a prime example of them mailing it in. I don't think that's entirely true, but there are definitely issues with this season.

I thought I read that Martin has already said that the books will take a different path to the end, though supposedly the major players will mostly end up in the same places.

I think the coffee cup is just a mistake, not an example they want to hurry up and be done with it. But the writing is definitely an example that they want to hurry up and be done with it.
