I'm actually having a discussion with people on Facebook who seem to think Daenerys didn't do anything that bad last night. I'm like, "She's gone full villain! She killed thousands of innocents, including women and children! That's not how a hero acts!" They just keep saying, "You can't condemn her for that. She's just ruling through fear. She had no choice!"

THAT'S EXACTLY HOW A FUCKING VILLAIN RULES!!!!!

    Varys is dead, though.

Something that I’m still thinking about: What about all the wildfire/wyldfire/wildfyre caches that exploded in flames while Dany and Drogon were torching King’s Landing? There were a whole lot of green explosions.

Was Cersei planning to torch the city herself if she couldn’t win, or were those caches forgotten leftovers from the Mad King’s last-ditch plan?

Yeah, but did we ever expect this show to end happy?

I figured they were leftovers. I think they said at some point there was so much they don't even know where it all was.

Oh, another “Hey, while I think about it” thing: Revelations 6:8.

“I looked, and behold, an ashen horse; and he who sat on it had the name Death; …”

    Probably wrong, though.

It briefly occurred to me that Tyrion lied to Jaime and had the tunnel out of the basement plugged up.... but that was just coincidence and the rubble from the destroyed keep plugged em up right?

I was thinking same thing. That Arya was dead and she was meeting the God of Death. Then she showed up in the preview so who the hell knows.

It was just coincidence. Tyrion loved Jaime right up until the end.

Agreed. That scene was excellent and seemed genuine. I think it was meaningful to Tyrion to have the opportunity to save his brother.

Then again, last week I thought Jaime was going to try to kill Cersei rather than return to her, so what the hell do I know?

(Though I did predict Dany turning bad. :) )

So today I keep thinking something : Has Dany been a villain pretty much the entire time? Here’s my thought: Early on, she’s forced to marry and find a way to survive with the Dothraki. She eventually begins her rise to power, but in a real sense, she’s fulfilling her brother’s dream, and her entire life is about gaining power. Freeing slaves gave her power, gave her an army. Killing the khals gave her more power and a bigger army. It was never about the people she was helping. It was about her. It was about a single purpose — gaining power. For six seasons, she mostly was loved as she gained power, so we thought she was a hero. The people she killed were slavers. They deserved it. But then she started to turn. She started to use fear more and more, burning those who opposed her to send a message, even ones who didn’t necessarily need to burn. And then last night she made the final turn to ruling through fear. Because the people weren’t what is important to her and never were. Power was always what was important.
