I don't think it's been revealed in the books yet, has it? I really doubt it will wind up being Tyrion just because of his whole trial and everything. Tywin could wind up being behind it, but honestly the way everything sorts out it wouldn't be beyond Martin to have Cersei or Jamie do it because they know it needs to happen. Of course, we know the whole story with Littlefinger, so there is him.

Obviously Cersei has the most to gain by Joffrey's demise. Her next son is easier to manage and she could supplant her father as the power behind the throne.

Interested to see if Jamie's growth continues once 'at home' or does he regress and become the sister fucking asshole he was in season 1&2.

Yes, the books revealed it. Not the third book, but we know who killed Joffrey.

You're in the spoiler thread ... do you want to be told what happens?

Revealed or not, to tv-only followers, how they've played Joffery will lead to a lot of speculation who is behind his death ... maybe moreso than what's in the book.

He's not even dead yet. Leave poor Joffrey alone, dammit!

It would be a shitty show if there wasn't speculation, no?

  8. Of course Tyrion is blamed for Joffrey's death. Which of course leads to Tyrion's trial and the epic Red Viper vs Mountain that Moves battle.

I read this morning (after posting) that is was Littlefinger.

  10. Littlefinger wasn't alone. Grandma Tyrell did the actual poisoning.

Varys' little speech about how Shae was distracting Tyrion from being good for the realm was just freaking fantastic.

Makes his shooting Kevan Lannister shoot up to one of my top "Can't wait until non-readers see that!" moments.

Was this established in the books?

Dang it - I'm going to have to go for reading No. 3.
