Thanks for that last sentence. I needed an afternoon laugh.

I guess they think all is well, especially if they are paying the moving costs.

I know of one person (non-sports) who was let go by Gannett about a year ago. He took another job with another Gannett paper across the country a few months later, but was told they would not reimburse him for moving. He moved the family across the country.

Guess what happened to him in July?

That's about as fucking sorry as it gets.

But I hope he was smart enough to know that was a possibility with the Evil Empire.

I don't know him. I just heard about it through a mutual friend.

But they're not paying moving costs. That question was asked with the regional copy desk thing and they were told the moving costs were not covered.

    Man.What a story.
Why in the hell would he go back to gannett in the first place?
It used to be important for a company to treat its employees well. Does Gannett even offer health insurance any more? If so, what company? Gannett is a cold blooded killer and unfortunately many of its "managers" headed to other chains and helped pollute those chains as well.

Gannett gives health insurance through BlueCross/BlueShield.

I haven't heard anyone complain about Gannett's benefits. That's one thing that company does do well.

Obviously, like most health care plans, it's not as great as it was, say, five years ago. I remember a photographer from a Gannett shop telling me his three kids cost them a total of $450 ($150 per kid for hospital stay).

They're paying 10% less this year than they did last year. I wasn't too happy about that, but what are my other options? Oh, wait. There are none.

Wow, that beats the couple thousand I had to pay for my kids through Gannett's United Health Care plan.

If they have Blue Cross as their provider, at least they are doing one thing right.
