gannett plans to layoff 3,000 by december.

    email i got today:

    Gannett Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer Craig Dubow today announced that he will take a voluntary $200,000 (17%) salary reduction beginning November 1 and continuing through 2009. Also, all company and divisional officers will have their salaries frozen for 2009.

    $200,000 is 17 percent... so before he was making a little under $800,000 a year in salary alone. YAY! I won't make that in 20 years.

    I believe his base salary was something like $1.2M and with all of his bonuses and stock options, blah blah blah, his salary was $7.9M. Of course, with Gannett stock being worthless, he's not making nearly that much.

    But yeah, he's still eating very well and living very comfortably.
